Ahh things go so fast

I am sitting here with my wine, with that wistful, painful knot in my stomach. I am losing my nanny in 2 weeks. Aidan is starting full-time preschool on the 7th. Aidan was diagnosed with allergies to milk products and eggs, and I am having to make significant (and expensive) dietary changes. The doctor told me that due to his ear infections and reflux that I have to stop the nighttime breast feeding. I know, at 2 I needed to wean anyway, but it comes at a terrible time!
How did it go so fast? What happened to the sweet little newborn that I took home 2 years ago? How is it possible that two years have passed and Aidan is ready for school? I am having just him, so these big-boy things come with such painful, wistful feelings.......
